The LFP in France have decided to conclude the French League season due to the coronavirus which has seen the campaign ended prematurely. The LFP president confirmed that PSG have been given the Ligue 1 trophy while European spots, promotion and relegation have also been confirmed.
Nathalie Boy de la Tour, the LFP president, has announced this Thursday what has been decided in a meeting held after the Ligue 1 season was ended early due to the coronavirus.
PSG have been declared the champions of this unusual season for the third year in a row.
The French football season is over. Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 plus all amateur football will not return this season and the LFP have decided what will happen with Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
Points per game (PPG) was decided despite some clubs like Lyon wanting the season to be declared null and void.
For European places and relegation places, current standings have been used. If two teams had played a different number of matches, PPG was applied. Main links
PSG and Marseille will play in the Champions League group stage next season when Rennes will be in the play-off round. Lille will go to the Europa League while the other two spots depending on whether the two cup finals (PSG v St Etienne and PSG v Lyon) are played or not. There is the chance these games could take place in August.
