The venue for the Everton versus Liverpool clash has been confirmed. After plenty of speculation, the fixture will be held at Everton’s Goodison Park home.
The ground safety advisory group of Liverpool City Council met on Wednesday morning and came to the conclusion that the match on June 21st does not need to take place at a neutral venue.
Everton confirmed on their official website that there were “positive discussions between the club, Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Police, The Everton Fans’ Forum, The Blue Union, Liverpool Football Club and Spirit of Shankly.”
There was talk of the game being played at a neutral venue such as St Mary’s in Southampton due to fears spectators would crowd outside the ground. However, despite initial concerns, Goodison has been given the green light to host the contest.
