Akinfenwa became a hero when he helped Wycombe Wanderers gained promotion to the championship on Monday.

The big striker contributed immensely to the achievement after scoring 20 goals and assisted another 4 in 20 starts last campaign.

Wycombe Wanderers sealed their promotion to the championship after beating Oxford United at Wembley and shortly after the game, Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp’s was on phone to celebrate with the 38-year-old striker.

“Even in these strange times, I hope you celebrate appropriately,” Klopp said.

Klopp added that the former Wimbledon striker is free to join the Kops in their title parade after the lick down.

Meanwhile, Liverpool players, including Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Henderson have since sent the player congratulatory messages.

Akinfenwa who was born in Islington, North London and he is of Nigerian descent has played for 15 different clubs in his career, including Torquay, Swansea, Northampton, Gillingham, Doncaster, and Millwall.

Akinfenwa supported the newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool and when the Reds were confirmed champions for the first time in 30 years last month, he went to training at Wycombe wearing a Liverpool shirt and was subsequently fined.
