Just before 23:00 CET, news broke of one of the most surprising signings of the La Liga transfer window. Real Sociedad have signed David Silva until 2022.
The 34-year-old moves to the Basque club on a free as his contract at Man City had finished. Earlier in the day, the player said goodbye to fans on social media and it was announced that there would be a statue of the Spaniard at the Etihad Stadium.
Real Sociedad have got themselves a top-quality player who has plenty of experience at top clubs and for the national team. He will help ease the loss of Martin Odegaard whose loan spell was ended early by Real Madrid.
