Against Fulham, he shone again – and Football League World’s West Brom fan pundit Matt Smith has revealed that he thinks the 20-year-old should be starting games every week for the side.
At such a young age, he does look like a talent already and to produce such sensational performances already is a big bonus for Steve Bruce and his team. As part of a revitalised Baggies unit he has thrived and it looks like he will be cementing a regular starting berth in the team going forward.
If the supporters have their way, then that will definitely be on the cards. It appears the overriding view on Gardner-Hickman is that he is a good player and needs to be starting games – and FLW’s West Brom fan pundit Matt has certainly made that clear, claiming he can ‘make an impact at this level.’
He said: “Taylor Gardner-Hickman for me is certainly a player that should be starting every match. We saw it in glimpses earlier on this season under Valerien Ismael that he is a player that can definitely make an impact at this level. It’s almost like the fans actually know what they’re talking about!

West Brom pulled off an upset in midweek, as they beat top of the table Fulham 1-0 to extend their unbeaten run to three league games.
After months and months of struggle at the Hawthorns, results appear to finally be picking up under Steve Bruce. The former Newcastle boss has managed to get some goals back in the team and the side are now ticking along nicely, beating Hull and the Cottagers with a draw against Huddersfield sandwiched in-between those results.
There have been a number of players that have begun to stand out for the club but one name that has been bright when he has featured even before Bruce turned up at the Hawthorns is Taylor Gardner-Hickman. The midfielder, whose main position is actually right-back despite where he has been played, has featured just 12 times in the league so far this year but has looked excellent when he has got on the field.

“I’m sure, as a supporter myself, I recognise that we do speak an awful lot of rubbish and we don’t know as much about the game as professionals. However, the fans have been calling for Gardner-Hickman to play every week since probably the Coventry game, where he won Man of the Match.
“He’s certainly someone who needs to be starting every game. The fans on this one were definitely right and I’m glad it’s finally taken Steve Bruce long enough to notice that and he’s repaying him that’s for sure.”
The Verdict
Taylor Gardner-Hickman looks like a real talent and considering his age, he already has bags of potential with the Baggies.
It is a real mystery, considering how well he has played recently, why he was not trusted more under Valerien Ismael. To have only played 12 league games considering his showings is baffling and it is good to see that he might finally get more action now under new management.
He’s definitely been one of the brightest players in the team recently and that is a point that has been backed up by Matt, who believes he needs to be starting most games. With Steve Bruce finally stumbling upon a winning formula which includes the youngster, it does seem likely he will start more.
With the season set to come to a close soon, it is a shame that the supporters haven’t been able to see more of the midfielder. However, it’s a positive for next season though, when he might continue to develop and become even more influential for West Brom.
