Barcelona president Joan Laporta has broken his silence on the club’s attempts to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the final hours of the transfer window. Aubameyang has been tipped to leave Arsenal all month having fallen out with Mikel Arteta.
The Gabon international was given the all clear to find a new club before the end of the January transfer window. And Barcelona moved ahead of the queue to sign Aubameyang with discussions taking place on a short-term loan deal.
But news broke in the final hours of the transfer window that talks had collapsed between Arsenal and Barcelona.
The Gunners were reportedly not happy with Barcelona’s offer of only paying a certain percentage of Aubameyang’s wages.
Now, Aubameyang looks set to stay at the Emirates but Laporta hasn’t given up hope of striking an agreement.
“We would like to incorporate Aubameyang. It is very complicated but there is hope,” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo.
